Aims

Dorchester Sailing Club is a family friendly club less than half a mile from the centre of Dorchester-on-Thames, on the Abingdon Road. The club provides a beautiful place to sail for experienced sailors and ideal surroundings and a safe beach launching area for beginners and the less experienced.

Racing and General Sailing

There is family sailing and racing, with safety cover, on Sundays throughout the year and there are Wednesday evening races in the summer. Members are welcome to sail at other times, but should be aware that there will be no club safety cover.

Members run various events throughout the year including a regatta with BBQ and entertainment, a children’s camping weekend, the world famous Dorchester Paddle, and much anticipated Christmas Pudding race.

Training Courses

Dorchester Sailing Club is an Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training centre and offers a variety of sailing courses for all ages (6 – 60+). These usually run on Saturdays in early summer and autumn. Separate Start Sailing Courses are provided for adults and juniors as well as refresher and more advanced courses for those wishing to build up their skills. All instructors are RYA qualified.

New Club House

This autumn the club is opening its new club house. With beautiful views over the lake, an enclosed patio and picnic tables, this provides excellent facilities for sailors and non-sailors alike to meet new friends.

The new club house has been built with support from South Oxfordshire District Council, the Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment and the Waste Recycling Group through the Landfill Communities Fund, and the Vale of the White Horse District Council.
